Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure officially opened to the public
on October 1, 2021 as part of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” – Walt
Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration. The attraction, which was delayed
from a summer 2020 opening due to COVID-19, will continue EPCOT’s
transformation into a space where Disney characters and stories are allowed to
live within the countries that inspired them.
The attraction vehicles themselves are
designed like…you guessed it, RATS! Each “rat” is 2 rows with 3 seats in each
row, for a total of 6 guests per ride. The seats are sort-of like benches,
except there are little dividers between each seat.
Three “rats” go into the attraction at a time from what we
saw. The vehicles are similar to the ones used at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway
Railway in the sense that they operate on a trackless system. there’s no actual
drop or fall - no drop in this ride. There is a “fall” which is just an
illusion created by the screens. When you get up to the end of the ride and
before you hop off your rat you’ll smell a delicious scent, very much like
fresh bread.
Overall, the attraction is fun for the whole family. There
are lots of different elements to look for — physical props in the attraction,
the action on the screens, and all of the extra effects in terms of heat,
water, and smells!
Did you notice the champagne bottles in the fountain to make
it look like you’re popping bottles of champagne, rather than just having water
regularly pouring out of the fountain?
There’s a lot to like about Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
It’s a thematically-appropriate addition to Disney’s dark ride lineup, and it
does offer some surprises that make it stand out from similar rides at Walt
Disney World. Everyone has different preferences in what they enjoy about rides
- it’s part of what makes Disney parks magical - and we have no doubt that kids
and Ratatouille fans will love it!
